What Are the Side Effects of Venlafaxine?
When used properly, Venlafaxine has few and mild side effects on the consumer. However, this will vary depending on your current health condition and the nature of your complication. Common side effects of Venlafaxine include:
- Eye pain or swelling, seeing halos around lights
- Nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting
- Change in appetite and weight loss/gain
- Dry mouth, tiredness
- Headache, nervousness, and dizziness
- Fast heartbeats and tremors
- Insomnia, lucid dreaming, and persistent yawning
- Increased sweating
- Sexual dysfunction and reduced sex drive
Severe side effects, although very rare, include:
- Vision impair, blurred vision, tunnel vision
- Breathing complications, chest congestion, coughing
- Convulsive seizures
- High serotonin levels in the body – fever, agitation, hallucinations, overactive reflexes, fast heartbeats, disorientation, and fainting sensation
- Low sodium levels in the body – migraine, slurred speech, confusion, weakness, and disassociation
- Severe nervous system reaction – stiff muscles, severe fever, fast and uneven heartbeats, tremors, feeling of passing out, and uncontrollable sweating
Generally, the adverse effects of Venlafaxine will wear off once the effects of the medication start to fade. That said, if you are still feeling one or more of the aforementioned side effects of the medication, then receive medical attention immediately.
